Another example of a superb Christmas night shot. The photographer has used the darkness to his advantage as the strings or wires holding up the stars are not visible, making the stars appear as if they are floating.

By choosing an angled, rather than front up, shot, the stars look different in sizes and it contributes to the depth of the picture.

From kids to adults, everyone loves working to make creative nativity scenes. It’s the only time of the year you get to photograph them in such a mood. The photographs usually make for great Christmas cards or keepsakes.

The heart-shaped lights in the photograph is created by placing a piece of film in front of the lens with hearts cut out in it. The technique is called Bokeh.

Santa claus is one figure people always try to experiment with. From the traditional Santas in reds to ones dressed in different costumes to even scary Santas. Christmas is the only time you get to see them; so make sure you capture as many as possible.

It’s a challenge to capture lights in macro mode, but with the right equipment, it can give some magical results. The photographer has chosen a shallow depth of field to draw attention of the viewer to the subject while capturing the colours nicely.
