Half the Christmas decorations are in fact outside your house. Once you’ve had your fill of food and gifts, step out and get some good night shots!

In the photo above, most of the area in the frame is sharp and in focus, but at the same time the sense of depth is retained. The photographer has chosen the right angle and composition to draw the viewer’s attention very naturally along the lighted building.

Apart from being delicious, even food gets as creative as possible during Christmas. Whether it’s the special Christmas delicacies or just the classic candy favourites, it’s the only time people won’t give you odd looks for taking close-up shots of the food – they would be too busy enjoying the food!
The photo above is a good example of giving a creative twist to the most common of things
Tip: Better start early – or there wont be any food to photograph!

Christmas is not just the time for prayers but is also about celebration, festivity and rich colours.
The Christmas ornaments are perfect in terms of representing the rich colours of Christmas.
The tilted frame and the circular arrangement of the ornaments add to the beauty of the photo.

Christmas it has many more own shades than the reds and golds, including the white of the snow or the blue-black of the night sky. It’s a good idea to use the ornaments to capture the different shades of Christmas.

It’s common for shops and establishments, or even families, trying to outdo each other in a friendly competition of Christmas decorations. Such contests make it easy for you to get subjects for your Christmas photo series.

The photographer has succeeded in adding depth to the photo by positioning the tree against the lighted building in the background, and also, the reflection on the water is captured nicely.

By having the shot with the tip of the tree almost touching the top of the frame (sky), the tall tree looks tall, and the star at the tip almost looks like a real star. Superb exposure and shot selection.
